Elvan Suzer
LOCATION F
Elvan Suzer is a Canadian artist whose work is inspired by
the landscapes, seasons, and everyday beauty of the world
around her. Color and texture are at the heart of Elvan's artistic practice. Her name, which means "colorful" in her native language,
reflects her love of vibrant palettes and expressive surfaces.
Whether working in landscape, still life, or figurative compositions, she uses layers of paint and mixed media to build depth, movement, and visual interest. Elvan works in a variety of mediums, including acrylic, oil, encaustic, mixed media, and Ebru, the traditional Turkish art of paper marbling. Her paintings range from representational to abstract, but all share a strong focus on
texture, color relationships, and the energy created through layered materials. She studied fine art at Montgomery College in Bethesda, Maryland, and is currently pursuing a double major in Fine Art and Art History at the University of Waterloo. Her
work has been featured in numerous juried and group exhibitions and has received several awards and honorable mentions. In addition to her studio practice, Elvan is a dedicated art instructor. She has taught classes and workshops at organizations including Homer Watson House & Gallery, Button Factory Arts, and other regional art centers. She currently teaches painting and mixed media workshops from her studio in the historic Shoe Factory building in Kitchener, Ontario, where she continues to explore the creative possibilities of color, texture, and layering.
