Painting
Jen is a Waterloo-based artist whose love of art was sparked when she received her first paint-by-number set as a present when she was a young child. Her early influences were the dramatic landscapes
of Canadian artists including Emily Carr and the Group of Seven. Over the years, she’s explored many types of art by taking courses at the Toronto School of Art, Haliburton School of Art and Design, and the Button Factory in Waterloo. She’s also received excellent mentorship and guidance, all of which have helped her further develop her skills and artistic voice.
Jen draws inspiration from everyday life, such as a walk in the woods, flowers in her garden, or the morning sunlight streaming through a window. Although she’s worked in various mediums in the past,
Jen’s work in recent years has primarily been acrylic on canvas. She usually paints from life, and she enjoys experimenting with colour, light, and looking at things from different perspectives.
Jen’s art can be viewed at her website.
